http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20050221082956959 had an article detailing how the trackpad vendor may have changed, and that the newer (1.5ghz +) PBs have slower trackpads, even when cranked up to the fastest setting.
I myself can notice the difference between the newer PBs and my old sony vaio trackpad. (The PB is much slower than I'd like).

GodFather has been getting ok reviews but is basically the PS2 game with a bit of waggle
Cooking Mama - has been getting 'AWFUL' reviews
Blazing Angels - has sucked the ass on all formats - wii is meant to be no different.
Ouch! That sucks!
Hows the port for TD:U for PS2 (besides graphics)? Is there anything they took out of it, like the MMO racing feature or only racing half the island? I don't see any reviews for the ported game yet. :o

Actually it feels fine in lecture. Though I must admit I'man upper classman, so all my courses are like 30 people max, and they're all in my department at this point. As to the 2GB RAM question, well I don't know cause i've still only got 512 in this beast (soon to have another gig on order) and I know that the mac chokes a bit on not having enough memory when I've got a bunch of things open. The only reason I know it's memory bound is my old dual 867 Mac handles some things better than my powerbook does, and the only difference is my powerbook is lacking in RAM.

I have this mouse and it is the absoltue best mouse I have ever owned or tried. Very smooth, use on a pad, off a pad, use it from 20 ft away on a hardwood floor (I have tried it!!)
It has a rechargeable battery that lasts forever, is EXTREMELY comfortable in your hand and has a multitude of controls at your fingertips. (scroll wheel up and down as well as left and right, a button that works like the command+tab button feature, etc. All are programable via a system preference. Best of all, it was recognized as soon as I plugged it in.
Can't say enough about it, well worth the $79.

Just as a launch day update, I was literally the last person in line at 4:45pm or so. Security rejected all others behind me. About 30 minutes ago, a little after 6:00pm, they came to the back and told us all models were going to run out for us for today, so the whole back of the line dissolved. :(

Guitar music as in "solo guitar" or "songs with vocals accompanied by guitar"?
I don't like Andy McKee by the way. Yes he does some special tricks (which are not extremely difficult to duplicate), but musically it's nothing imho. If you want a real genius musically and technically try Tommy Emmanuel! :)
You'd like my band too by the way, it's like Rodrigo y Gabriela, except on steelstrings and more different influences (not so concentrated on Spanish). And, we try to sing as well! Shame we still haven't recorded our songs yet.

G'day all,
Over the last month or 2 my Macbook of a little over 4 years old has been experiencing some problems and I want some opinions on whether it is time to move on to a new Model.
My laptop is used for university work which mostly consists of typing documents and so on. I do a fair bit of video editing and short film making (which is now not possible as it can't even handle iMovie, even with every other program closed) and I also use it for browsing the web, iTunes and every now and then a bit of Photoshoping as i also am a hobbie photographer.
Specs: Early 2007 Macbook running Snow Leopard
2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
3GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
320GB HDD
1st issue: Screen Spasm
2 maybe 3 times a week I'll be in the middle of something and this screen will appear accompanied by a flickering noise and the only way of stopping is to hold and shutdown the computer. Any ideas??
http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/jimmymac9588/IMG_0592.jpg
2nd Issue: Freeze
The computer will freeze just like any other would and if music is on at the time the sound sounds like when your CD's skip except it doesnt stop until you shutdown. This has been occuring once or twice a week for the last month or so.
3rd issue: Sound fuzzy
Every so often i'll be listning to music or watching YouTube and the sound will skip a few times then go all fuzzy and static, there is however a reasonably quick solution to this....pause whatever ur listning/watching, leave the computer for a minute and then resume, usually works.
My big question is what will it take to fix these issues and at what cost? Is it worth the expense or will i be needing to fork out money for a new computer soon down the track either way? If i can fix these problems will I be able to continue my video making/editing or is that something that will not be possible on this laptop from this point?
Would really appreciate some assistance/advise?
Thanks for reading!

I have been waiting to hear the results from the Final Cut meeting last night. I haven't heard anyone celebrating the release of FC Server, or any other cool FC-related anything.
Does anyone know what ever came of this "secret announcement?"
Nope, but must not have been anything important or else we'd have heard about it or seen an update of some sort on the apple site.

On a side note I think it's funny that Mac OS 10.6 is not actually 11 or 12. As the difference between 10.0 and 10.6 is far greater than 7.6 to 8 or 8.6 to 9.
I think the opportunity to renumber was back in the 10.4 or 10.5 range. 10.6 was little more than a performance tweak. But little by little, we drift farther and farther away from that 10.0 experience. Maybe Lion, with more touchiness, will warrant a new number. But "XI" just doesn't look as cool as "X" does.

What exact version of iPhoto are you using?
I had the same error even on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard when I installed iLife '11. It wouldn't run until I ran Software Update and downloaded the latest version of iPhoto...
I'm running iPhoto 9.1.2 on OS X 10.7 Lion with no issues. :)

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor came to Speaker John Boehners side Monday, promising action by Friday to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, now that President Barack Obama has said he wont.
I stand by [Boehners] commitment to make that happen, Cantor (R-Va.) said Monday afternoon at a press conference, promising to outline their plans in detail Friday.
Cantor said the Justice Departments refusal to defend the law is a problem separate from the substance of the law itself, which allows states to decide whether to recognize same-sex unions in other states. The Justice Department has called another provision, that bars same-sex couples from receiving federal-worker benefits, unconstitutional.
Again I do believe that this is a case that is distinguishable on its merits and to have the administration take the position, the president take the position, that hes not defending the law of the land, is something very troubling I think to most members of the House, Cantor said.
When pressed on what House Republicans planned to do, he demurred.
I think youll see that on Friday, Cantor said.
In a taped interview posted Monday, Boehner (R-Ohio) said the GOP-controlled House could appoint a special counsel to defend the law commonly known as DOMA, a suggestion first made by former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.).
Its an option being considered. Boehner said during an appearance on The Christian Broadcasting Network. Id be very surprised if the House didnt decide that they were going to defend law.
His office is currently researching several legal options and seeking feedback from other Republicans to determine how to proceed, Boehner said. A decision likely will be made by the end of the week.
Im really disappointed in the president and the Department of Justice in the fact that theyre not going to defend a law that Congress passed overwhelmingly. Its their responsibility to do that. Boehner said. But if the president wont lead, if the president wont defend DOMA, then youll see the House of Representatives defend our actions in passing a bill that frankly passed overwhelmingly.
While taking legal action doesnt require a vote in the House, the lower chamber could decide to pass a resolution reaffirming their support for DOMA and reiterating their justification for passing it in the first place.
A handful of Republicans, including House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas), have already filed friend-of-the-court briefs, backing the law in a number of court cases where its constitutionality is being challenged.
Were working with leadership to examine all the legal options before Congress, said a senior Judiciary Committee aide.
But gay-rights activists say theres a whiff of hypocrisy from the GOPs pledge.
Republican leaders have been claiming to want to focus on the economy, yet their insertion into this case would represent a hypocritical departure from that position, said Michael Cole-Schwartz, a spokesman for the Human Rights Campaign, a gay-rights advocacy group.
Thats the same argument Republicans made last week as they criticized President Barack Obama for ordering his Justice Department to stop defending the 15-year-old law that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman: Why was the president wading into a hot-button social issue now if his top priorities are jobs and the economy?
Anticipating that Republicans will mount a rigorous defense of DOMA, the Human Rights Campaign has been taken steps to fight back. Its leaders sent e-mail alerts to thousands of its supporters, launched a petition seeking to block the House from intervening, and have been huddling with Capitol Hill allies to develop a strategy.
Were all prepared for [Republicans] to intervene in some way, Cole-Schwartz said. The question is how do they do it, how do they roll it out, and what kind of political hay they want to make of it?

I need an ATI PCI Video card that'll work with my PowerMac G3 B&W. I'm currently using an old PCI card from my old PowerMac 9600 so if I could replace it in time for christmas (I'm giving the computer away as a gift to my Grandma) then that would be fantastic.
I see some going on eBay so if I can't find one here I'll purchase one on there. I can pay via PayPal, or if you really want maybe we can trade somehting. Thanks! :)

THE server? You mean the entire MacRumors site is run off of a single server? Color me impressed.
Well, no...I believe there are at least five servers behind MacRumors. But we restarted the front page one that was bogging down.
